Johnny Depp wishes he could go to Disneyland. “If I could walk into anywhere without being noticed, I’d walk through Disneyland with my kids,” the proud father of Lily-Rose, 10, and Jack, 7 (mom is French singer Vanessa Paradis) told me last year when I interviewed him. “I’d go on every ride twice. Then I’d just walk through there with my kids and let them experience what they don’t get to do with Daddy. The truth is when Daddy walks through a crowded park with them, things get really weird.”

But even though he would love to jump through a rabbit hole and be anonymous for a little while, the star of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland appreciates his good fortune. When I caught up with Johnny again recently, the 46-year-old looked every bit the Sexiest Man Alive in jeans and a black jacket, with his unruly hair peaking out from under a beige cap, his eyes shaded by black sunglasses, his facial fuzz just oh-so-perfect. “I’m shocked that I still get jobs and am still around," he admitted. "I guess more than anything it has been kind of a Wonderland for me.”

You have a home in France, are you able to live a simpler life there?
Do I still live in France? I might be living there. I might even be there at this moment, at least in my mind! No, seriously, we still have our place in France, but now we just go back there occasionally. But to answer your question, life is quiet in France. I can walk around with my kids and people just smile and wave. It’s calm and peaceful, which is the way I like it.

So where are you living now?
My family goes where the work is. For the most part, I’ve been on location for so long now that I don’t know what time zone I’m on, truly.
