Just days after John Edward’s public admission that he did indeed father his mistress Rielle Hunter’s child, People magazine is reporting that Elizabeth Edwards has finally had it with her philandering husband and they are now legally separated.

You might think the last straw for Elizabeth was the news of an alleged sex tape with John’s pregnant mistress, but Elizabeth’s sister says it came when Elizabeth met little Frances Quinn Hunter, Rielle Hunter and John Edwards' daughter:

“She said, 'I've had it. I can't do this. I want my life back,’”" her sister, Nancy Anania, tells People in the latest cover story. Last December, Elizabeth met the 23-month-old Frances Quinn Hunter - the baby John fathered with mistress Rielle Hunter - in a mediated visit at a North Carolina hotel.

People reports that a spokeswoman for Elizabeth has released a statement saying she's “moving on with her life” after a “excruciatingly painful period for her.”

And what does John Edwards himself have to say?

“It is an extraordinarily sad moment, but I love my children more than anything and still care deeply about Elizabeth.”

I’d say the sad moment came when you cheated on your cancer-stricken wife while running for President of the Unites States, but that’s just me. (People.com)
