Jessica Alba: “I want my kid to be a nerd!”
The star of Valentine’s Day shares her hopes and dreams for her daughter Honor, why she loves being a mommy and what it’s like getting a marriage proposal from Ashton Kutcher.
Jessica Alba admits that since becoming a mom, daughter Honor “has taken over my life, but I happily surrender to it.” But the star of the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day never considered giving up her career. “There will never be a day where I don’t love acting,” says the 28-year-old. “It’s important that a mother has dreams so she can teach her daughter about dreams. I think Honor will appreciate the fact that I managed to do both.” So will she encourage her 20-month-old to follow in her footsteps? “It’s not something I’ll be pushing my kid to do at all,” reveals Jessica. “I want her to be really smart and be in band. It’s a joke I have with [husband] Cash [Warren]. We say that our kids can’t be cool. Our kids have to be nerds, they’re so much more dynamic!”
How has Honor changed your life most?
“Honor gives me an instant fix on what’s really important in life. As mothers we’re really hard on ourselves to make sure everything in life is perfect, but there is no perfect. You watch your child running and playing and that’s about as perfect as it gets.”
You clearly love being a mom.
“Motherhood is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s a great gift. You create a life and it’s the most incredible feeling and the biggest responsibility in the world. That’s why I try to keep a very positive attitude, hopefully my daughter feels my energy.”
So will you and Cash be adding to your family?
“Oh Lord, I don’t know! Probably.”
What was your pregnancy like?
“Every couple of hours I turned into Satan if I didn’t eat anything!”
