Daily Dish: Jennifer Grey Remembers Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze's Dirty Dancing co-star, Jennifer Grey, talks about the wonderful actor we've lost

Everyone is in mourning today over the death of Patrick Swayze, including Betty Confidential and Patrick's Dirty Dancing co-star, Jennifer Grey.

The pair danced their way into everyone's hearts when the movie debuted in 1987, and Jennifer can still recall what it felt like to work alongside Patrick. "When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see," she says.

The actress went on to say that she didn't expect any less of Patrick when he fought with all his might to beat his pancreatic cancer.

"It was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified. Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. My heart goes out to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, to his mom, Patsy, and to the rest of their family."

Kenny Ortega, the choreographer who taught Patrick and Jennifer their infamous dance moves for the movie, also released a statement about the passing of his dear friend. "Patrick loved life, and had such an enthusiasm for everything he did," Kenny says. "If he could climb it, he climbed it. If he could write it, he wrote it. If he could dance it, well, we all know he did. He lived." (People)
