The Italian government is about to establish a legislation which will ban girls who are under the age of 18 from having any form of plastic surgery, especially of the breast enhancement persuasion.

Officials believe the majority of Italian surgeons don’t know what they’re doing, and that young women have no idea of the risks associated with breast enlargement operations.

"Far too many adolescent girls are unaware of the fact that there are risks with this type of surgery and it should not be used purely for fashion and looks," explained Francesca Martini, an undersecretary within Italy's welfare ministry. "At the moment we have a Wild West, cowboy style system of plastic surgery for young women and this must stop." (Daily Telegraph)
