No one’s said anything official yet, but it looks like Prince William is finally going to marry his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton.

A source inside Buckingham Palace told Tina Brown, editor of The Daily Beast and a long-time chronicler of the British monarchy, that two days in June have been blocked out on the royal agenda, presumably to make the official announcement. (Why two days? It’s not clear, but the royals do everything at their own pace.)

The wedding itself, Brown wrote, will probably take place in November, with the royals hoping that an autumn ceremony will downplay any comparisons to the fairytale wedding of William’s parents, Charles and Diana, in July 1981. That ceremony, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, was watched worldwide by billions. But it’s impossible that Kate, who’s been William’s girlfriend for seven years, will ever eclipse the memory of Diana and her 25-foot train.

Although Kate’s been snarked at by the press because she’s a commoner, she and William seem to be marrying for love—unlike Charles and Diana, whose union fell apart amid accusations of infidelity.
