He Treats Me Unfairly

Dear ASK REAL GUYS: My boyfriend and I are completely unable to communicate. He's constantly putting me down, and when I try to express how I feel about it he claims that I am "destroying" our relationship. I don't understand why it's OK for him to complain, but not me. What should I do? I love him but he is so incredibly apathetic and detached from everyone and everything. He doesn't understand me at all, and I'm at a loss.

Steven: If he is so apathetic and detached, you cannot talk to him. He puts you down, and he does not respect you enough to really listen to you about how you feel -- why are you with him? If you do not respect yourself, you are unlikely to find someone who will respect you. Take a stand for what you want, and find someone who loves you and cherishes you for who you are.
