Andrea Fay Friedman

Andrea Fay Friedman has Down syndrome, and she was the actress who voiced the character in the Family Guy episode that has the Palin family fighting mad. In the episode, Friedman’s character, who also has Down syndrome, goes on a date with Chris Griffin, and tells him her mother “used to be the governor of Alaska.”

Of course, Trig Palin, Sarah Palin’s infant son, was born with Down syndrome, and her reaction to the episode was to take to her Facebook page in fury, and alter telling Bill O’Reilly that show “really isn’t funny” and was the work of “cruel, cold-hearted people.” Bristol Palin also weighed in, calling the Family Guy creators “heartless jerks".

But, says Freidman, it’s Sarah Palin herself who is something of a jerk for carting her baby boy around like a “loaf of French bread” to get “sympathy and votes.”

“I thought the line was very funny. I think the word is 'sarcasm,'" Friedman responded in an email to media outlets. "In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Gov. Palin carries her son Trig around, looking for sympathy and votes.”

Just one more thing I don't like about Palin - she takes every imagined insult and chews it over to get maximum attention. If she wants to be a national political presence, she'd better learn to choose her battles wisely.

Now if someone poked fun at her economic plan, that's worth responding to. But then, we haven't seen an economic plan, have we?
