The rule of thumb in Hollywood has always been: don't make a sex tape -- or do anything on camera -- unless you want people to see it. Well, Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart obviously missed that part of the celebrity handbook when a 12-minute long video of them flouncing around their house with former teen beauty queen Kari Ann Peniche was leaked on Defamer.com last month.
So, now the couple is retaliating and has filed a copyright infringement suit against Gawker Media for over $1 million. Eric and Rebecca claim in the lawsuit that the posting of the video was a violation of their legal and privacy rights, and that Gawker distributed uncenscored copies of the tape "maliciously."
Gawker's only rebuttal so far? Publisher Nick Denton took to his Twitter to say, "To quote the great Marty Singer -- Eric Dane's lawyer -- if you don't want a sex tape on the internet, don't make one!" That's exactly what we said! (People)
