Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Self-proclaimed conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck caused jaws to drop during Thursday’s episode of The View when she called Sarah Palin’s new campaign map “despicable.”

Joy Behar kicked off the conversation by stating that the map, which features white and red gun sights drawn over districts whose Democratic representatives voted for health care, "looks like an al Qaeda Christmas card.”

Hasselbeck concurred and went on to criticize Republicans for the way they are handling the situation.

"The names that are next to and being highlighted by those crosshairs -- I think it's an abuse of the Second Amendment,” she said. “I also feel as though every single person on here is a mother, a father, a friend, a brother, a sister, and to take it to this level is -- it's disappointing to see this come from the Party, and I would hope that leaders like Sarah Palin would end this."

Palin is currently campaigning for John McCain in Arizona where he faces a Republican primary against former congressman J.D. Hayworth, so we’ll have to wait with baited breath for the Alaska native’s rebuttal! (Huffington Post, USA Today)
