In the wake of Corey Haim's death, it is clear that there is a major drug ring problem in Los Angeles. "If [Haim] took all the pills that our records show he was prescribed over the last year and three months, he took very damaging assaults on his body," Attorney General Jerry Brown said. And Haim had to be getting the drugs from somewhere.
Brown believes that doctors and pharmacies are involved in a huge drug ring in LA, and he has since made an arrest of a person suspected to be a part of that ring, and who may have been connected to Haim's death.
Doctors' identities are stolen and prescription pads are ordered in bulk so that people not authorized to give out prescriptions can do so. Perhaps this is why Haim had prescriptions from about four different doctors in the past three months.
"How many people go to 10 or 15 or 20 doctors and then run around to 10, 12 and more pharmacies to go fulfill them and sometimes two different doctors in the same day?" Brown said. (CNN)
