Former CBS producer, Robert Halderman, the man who allegedly tried to extort $2 million from Late Show host David Letterman by threatening to reveal the details of his affairs with staffers on his show, plead guilty to attempted second-degree larceny yesterday.
According to The New York Post, beginning May 4, Halderman will spend six months in jail on Rikers Island – four if he complies with his plea deal and doesn’t speak about Letterman’s affairs – and will perform 1,000 hours of community service and will be on probation for four and a half years.

“I feel great remorse for what I have done. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Letterman and his family,” Halderman said in his statement.
Last night, Letterman addressed the verdict on his show, saying, “I'd never been involved in anything like this in my life, and I was concerned and full of anxiety and nervous and worried. And the people in the district attorney's office said, 'This will be handled professionally. This will be handled skillfully and appropriately.'
"Well, the matter was resolved today, and… it was handled professionally, skillfully and appropriately." (New York Post)
