BeautifulPeople.com prides itself on being “the largest network of attractive people in the world”, and therefore terminated 5,000 accounts after certain members put on weight over the holidays.
The banning was initiated by physically fit users who control the membership of the site in order to keep the selection top notch.
"As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld," site founder Robert Hintze explained. "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded." (BBC News)
