At 3 years old, Suri Cruise picks up the bottle once in a while – the baby bottle, of course! Doctors are weighing in about whether or not parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes should allow the celeb babe to suck sometimes.

“She should have been weaned off the bottle by the time she was one year old,” said pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Shu, who co-wrote the book Food Fights, told Usmagazine.com. “You don’t force kids to crawl when they can walk.”

Not all doctors are up in arms about a little bottle dependency.

“Sucking is normal for kids when they are tired or bored – as long as kids aren’t keeping the bottle in their mouths for hours,” said Dr. Harvey Karp, a pediatrician, child development specialist and creator of The Happiest Toddler on the Block book and DVD. “Thumb-sucking is much more damaging,” he said, adding that the bottle could be a security item for Suri.

So if the bottle serves as Suri’s security blanket and Suri is photographed with it in public, perhaps little Suri feels uncomfortable in the spotlight. Perhaps Suri would prefer to hang out away from the paparazzi stroll. Perhaps a little more private time would serve Suri well. But what do we know? (Us Magazine)
