In a case of light imitating art, Robert Pattinson is afraid to reveal himself in the light of day – well, sort of.

Despite being a major sex symbol, Robert was a little uncomfortable about stripping down for a scene in the upcoming Twilight film New Moon.

“I felt pretty goofy stepping out into the sunlight in front of 2,000 people in a town square, ripping my clothes off,” Rob told Parade.com. “I was essentially doing a striptease.”

The 2,000 people in that scene, which was filmed in Italy, were all Twilight fans who traveled there to be a part of the film. Though Rob was nervous, the scene helped him bond with his fans.

“It was also one of the moments where I’ve really felt closest to people’s emotional attachment to Edward,” he said. “It was a moment where I’ve felt the whole weight of anticipation, and I guess responsibility as well, of being Edward, for all the people who were kind of so obsessed with the stories.”

He said working with Taylor Lautner doesn’t help his anxiety.

“It’s like, ‘Jeez, now I have to go to the gym,’” Robert said.
