Rihanna will open up this week about her relationship with singer Chris Brown and the abuse that ended it.
Rihanna spoke to ABC’s Diane Sawyer for the interview, which will air in three parts this week: on the Thursday and Friday editions of Good Morning America and Friday night on 20/20.
“It’s as revealing an interview as I’ve seen,” an unnamed ABC insider told the New York Daily News. “She’s just a brave, gracious young lady.”
The singer will also grace the cover of Glamour magazine’s upcoming Women of the Year issue and appear on The Alexa Chung Show on MTV.
Rihanna has managed to avoid discussion of the night Chris beat her in his car last February, but Chris has made numerous public attempts to get back in the public’s good graces, including a YouTube apology and an appearance on Larry King Live.
“People make mistakes all the time,” Chris told Angie Martinez, a DJ at New York’s Hot 97 radio station. “I’m learning from my mistakes every day and I regret it every second.”
He was sentenced to 180 days of community labor, a year of domestic-violence counseling and five years probation.
“This can happen to me,” Rihanna says in the 20/20 interview, “It can happen to anyone.”
Rihanna’s latest album, Rated R, is set for release Nov. 23. (New York Daily News)
