Daily Dish: Randy Jackson's American Idol Predictions

Randy Jackson let slip a few tidbits of info on American Idol’s next season, which is set to start in January 2010, at the Yahoo! Yodel Studio in New York on Tuesday.

“I think I have to give the edge going in to the girls,” Jackson told People. “We haven’t had a girl winner in a long time and some interesting talented girls showed up [to audition].”

Randy also spoke about the new woman who will join the judges’ table, Ellen DeGeneres.

“I think Ellen will bring an easy light kind of side to it … she isn’t that music aficionado like all of us but I don’t think the panel necessarily needed more of that.”

Randy said the judges are already getting along with Ellen swimmingly, even with Simon Cowell!

“Ellen is a friend of all of ours … she is going to be good.”
