Daily Dish: Patrick Swayze’s Widow: "I Will See Him Again"

Lisa Niemi opens up about her late husband at a women’s conference.

It has only been six weeks since Patrick Swayze’s death, but his widow Lisa Niemi opened up about losing Patrick during a discussion on Grief, Healing and Resilience at the Women’s Conference 2009 in California this week.

“When the grief takes you, it’s like your body is not your own,” Lisa said. “I’m just going with the flow. I know I have to go through it.”

The conference was hosted by Maria Shriver and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Panelists at the Grief, Healing and Resilience discussion included Shriver, Elizabeth Edwards and Susan St. James. Kelly Preston was scheduled to speak as well, but did not feel up to discussing her 16-year-old son Jett's death.

Lisa and Patrick were married for 34 years. Lisa said she has friends who are helping her endure her loss. Despite having a long and fulfilling relationship with Patrick, Lisa has one regret.

“I’ve spent two thirds of my life with him … My regret is that I didn’t tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years,” Lisa said.

“I am so grateful for what I had and my connection to him, and part of me believes that I will see him again,” Lisa said, as her voice broke, “and I’m just going to have to go on until then.” (People)
