Child star Corey Haim was found died at a Burbank, California hospital early this morning. He was just 38 years old. He allegedly died of a drug overdose, though an autopsy has not yet been performed.
Haim was still alive when emergency responders arrived at his home, but he died soon after at a local hospital, according to Coroner’s Lt. Cheryl Mac Willie. Haim’s mother was home when emergency responders entered his apartment.
Haim was one of the biggest child stars of the 1980s with hits like The Lost Boys and License to Drive, but he had trouble keeping his career going as he matured. Haim recently starred in an A&E reality show called The Two Coreys with his friend, ‘80s child star Corey Feldman. The pair’s career troubles and substance abuse were documented during the show.
Though Haim had trouble reviving his career, he recently found work in the thriller Crank 2, alongside Jason Statham and Amy Smart. He sounded enthusiastic about his career in a recent interview with TV Guide.
“I’m loving it,” Haim said. “I just want to work, and that’s what I’m doing, thank God, on stuff I want to do.” (PopEater)
