When Channing Tatum met Jenna Dewan on the set of Step Up in 2006, he wasn’t looking for love. “I just got out of a three-year relationship and really wasn’t ready to get into anything,” admits the hunky star of the tearjerker Dear John. “So much for the best-laid plans.” Channing and Jenna tied the knot in an oceanside ceremony in Malibu last July and married life has been pure bliss. “She makes me want to grow and challenge myself,” says the 29-year-old. “She just makes me better all the time.”

How did you know Jenna was the one?
I think all love is true love. If you care, it’s true. Now I know that unconditional love is the truest sort of love. It’s like the other person could literally kill someone and you would forgive them.

Now that’s unconditional love!
What really threw the edge for me is when I knew that making Jenna happy made me happiest of all. It wasn’t just about me anymore.

So what’s your top relationship tip?
My best relationship advice is if you need advice then you’re not in a good relationship. Beyond that, just pay attention. I know when I get up in the morning if my wife had good or bad dreams. I pay attention.

Is it hard being away from her while you’re working on a film?
We go off to our respective movie sets but we don’t allow more than two weeks to go by without seeing each other. And then it’s an amazing reunion!
