Celeb Trend: Corsets

Stars are wearing corsets as outerwear but we can’t decide if this is a hot trend or not.

Hollywood is catching on to the trend seen on this year’s fall and spring runways: wearing underwear as outerwear. This month, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan were among the first to be seen wearing sexy waist-slimming corsets (usually reserved for lingerie) to events in Los Angeles and Paris. While Gwen wore hers solo, both Rihanna and Lindsay layered their corsets over a T-shirt or dress, boldly going where no starlet has gone before.

We like Gwen’s Dolce & Gabbana corset with its beautiful lace detailing that adds to its romantic appeal. Rihanna’s is rocker cool with silver grommets and cut-out sides. On the other hand, we’re not so thrilled about Lindsay’s corset. It’s pretty plain and doesn’t add anything to her white T-shirt and leggings combo. 

But one thing’s for sure, a corset works wonders when you want to draw attention to a tiny waist (or create the illusion of one) and it pushes up the girls at the same time. If you’re digging this trend, here are some inexpensive and stylish corsets that you can wrap around your waist or layer over a top or dress:
