Love is in the air! Christina Applegate, 38, and her musician fiancé Martyn LeNoble, 41, will be making a trip down the aisle this summer. The couple dated for two years before getting engaged on the most romantic (okay Hallmark) holiday of the year—Valentine’s Day. Looks like Cupid hit the nail, er, arrow on the head this time because Martyn has already proved his utmost devotion by being there for Christina through the most difficult time in her life.

After Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer, which resulted in a double mastectomy in 2008, Martyn stood steadfastly by her side. Who said chivalry is dead? His commitment during those difficult times makes one thing abundantly clear—this guy’s a keeper. “Christina wanted to make sure she was healthy and cancer-free before she agreed to marry Martyn,” a source tells BettyConfidential. When the doctors gave her the good news that she was doing well, Martyn surprised her on Valentine’s Day and proposed. She was so taken back and surprised, but immediately said, ‘Yes.’”

Christina has been through some trying times in the past few years, between a terrifying battle with cancer and a divorce from former husband actor, Johnathan Schaech, which became final in 2007. Now she is deservingly getting a second chance at life, and love. This marks marriage number two for Martyn as well. Sometimes twice is a charm—let’s hope.

I just hate the stygma of someone being described as “cancer free.” She is just so much more than that.
