Bristol Palin and her ex-fiancé Levi Johnston are in the middle of a custody battle over their 1-year-old son Tripp, it was revealed this week.

The lawyer for both Bristol and her mom Sarah Palin had hoped to keep the proceedings private and had obtained a temporary order that had allowed Bristol to petition for sole custody and child support using pseudonyms; however, after a judge denied to keep the case closed, 18-year-old Bristol and her Playgirl centerfold ex will now be forced to fight it out in public.

"I do not feel protected against Sarah Palin in a closed proceeding," Levi said in an affidavit. "I hope that if it is open she will stay out of it. Bristol's attorney is her attorney."

Bristol’s petition, which was filed in November, also seeks a visitation schedule for Levi. She has stated that Levi has only visited Tripp “sporadically” whereas Levi has claimed in the past that the Palins have prevented him from seeing his son. (USA Today)
