Our tour of Hollywood nightlife begins with Rosario Dawson's 30th birthday at The Gates this week in New York. The club is the new hotspot for celebs like Kevin Kline, Matt Dillon and Kelly Bensimon and is the ultimate in luxury and privacy--it's not currently even open to the public.

Rosario celebrated with the Puerto Rican side of the family and her new boyfriend, DJ Mathieu Schreyer. The starlet had custom made cupcakes decorated with nickels and quarters. (How very crafty: $.25 + $.05 = $.30) After everyone had sipped bottles of champagne, the dance floor quickly turned into a who's-who dance-off starring Rosario and good friends Eve Ensler, most known for her play, the Vagina Monologues, and Salman Rushdie, famous novelist and ex-husband to Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi.

The fabulous party was hosted by Rose's Mojitos, which kept Salman and new galpal, Pia Glenn, dancing and busting moves to Michael Jackson hits all night long.

Our second birthday stop takes us west to Las Vegas. Newly minted star, Malin Ackerman, of Watchmen fame, turned 31 this weekend in Sin City. The Swedish/Canadian actress convinced all her galpals, including Nick Lachey's girlfriend, Vanessa Minillo, to join her for a wild weekend.

The girls checked into their hotel rooms at the brand-new Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino before they headed to the La Reve show (similar to Cirque de Soleil) at the Wynn. While sipping bottomless cocktails, they changed and continued the fun later, rocking out at the Dave Matthews concert.

Saturday night was saved for a decadent steak dinner at The Strip House, and Malin ended her splashy weekend at Prive nightclub--all conveniently located at Planet Hollywood. The girls danced, took photos and helped Malin blow out birthday candles in front of wild fans at the club.

Fear not for the large tabs that Rosario and Malin must have racked up! When you are in Hollywood, your birthday celebrations are typically free and complimentary. One of the loveliest of the celebrity perks.
