While the winners at the 2010 SAG awards were pretty much a repeat of last week’s Golden Globes, the stars pulled out all the stops on the red carpet. Ladies in red ruled as Mariah Carey, Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, Joan Allen, Edie Falco, Carey Mulligan (above) and True Blood’s Rutina Wesley and Mariana Klaveno (both below) stood out in the bold hue.

While there was hardly a fashion misstep to be seen, we would like to have a serious talk to Hollywood’s hair and makeup artists, who seriously let their stars down. Sandra Bullock’s hair was so messy it looked as if she’d just come from the gym, while Drew Barrymore’s attempt to look ’60s chic was hampered by a messy updo and way-too-nude lips. They could have both learned a lesson from American Idol’s Adam Lambert, whose makeup was flawless and hair had more height than a pair of platform stilettos.

I want Nicole Kidman’s dress in my closet, NOW!

Sofia Vergara’s dress is INSANELY gorgeous. I liked Christina Applegate’s ice-queen look too.

Marion’s dress would be even more beautiful had it a less clunky or bulky strap. She looks really good overall though.

Christina Applegate stole the show. She looked like a princess. I loved Sandra Bullock’s classic dress. It fit her figure and personality. IMHO, this is a time for celebs to be fashion forward, but I think some of them didn’t consider their own figures. Dresses should flatter the wearer, not wear the woman. Many did that. Make up was also lacking. Patricia Arquette, who I absolutely adore, should lose some weight and get a stylist. Oh, and burn her whole wardrobe.

Omg! I am so surprised. Kate Hudson look absolutely AMAZING! She won best dressed on all the morning talk shows and in other mags…I thought she was flawless. And Sandra Bullock was also hailed as one of the best dressed, her Alexander McQueen dress was so gorgeous! Other than that I pretty much agreed with your assesments.

No way can you compare Kate Hudson’s gown to Celine Dion’s disaster! Kate looked great. So did Christina Applegate, Anna Paquin, Kyra Sedgewick, Monique, Sandra Bullock (although I agree about her hair), and both red-gowned actresses from TB: Rutina Welsly(sp?) and Mariana Klavenko (?)
All in all, a very stylish occasion. And most of the men looked great too.

I LOVED the way Edie Falco looked! I think she really took a chance with not only her dress, but with her hair as well. We’ve seen her look like Carmela Soprano with perfect New Jersey mob wife hair(which made her look much older than her years), and Nurse Jackie, who wears it short and flat with a no-nonsense ‘do. To make it a little edgy, and stepping outside of the box by not trying to look like everyone else, just shows that she is, as her acting shows, a true individual. I absolutely love her and hope we continue to see more of her! (and she should have won!!)
