7 Fab Tips on How to Dress On-Trend for Pennies
You can look like you walked out of a magazine’s fashion shoot or off a red carpet and spend almost nothing!
I’ll be honest with you; I love fashion. While I do adore clothing and accessories and jewelry and shoes, I hate the thought of spending a lot of money on any one item. My closets are stuffed with Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Ferragamo, Prada, Kooba, Chloe and other expensive labels. But here’s the thing, I don’t think I’ve spent more than $20 on one of those item. I once bought an YSL bag for $6, a Chloe Paddington bag for $2 and Prada driving shoes for $8. I’m going to share my super shopping secrets on how to dress like a million dollar baby for much less. You can find bargains online and in stores, it’s just a matter of patience and a penchant for hunting for a deal.
1. Know your size before you shop online
Before you shop online for an item, hit the store that carries the brand or designer and find the size and style that fits you. One brand’s size 6 may be another brand’s size 4, so try it on first.
2. Online bargain hunting tools
You can save a lot of money shopping online. You can set up sale alerts for brands you love on ShopItToMe.com. Sign up with them for exclusive sales on your favorite brands. Pick up promotion codes and online sales coupons on RetailMeNot.com. Scoop up deals on BradsDeals.com, HauteLook.com, RueLaLa.com, Ideeli.com, Fab.com and Gilt.com. Finding that deal that makes you swoon over the tiny price tag takes patience and time. It’s worth signing up to a lot of sites so you can check out their sale emails.
My absolute favorite bargain site is eBay.com. I once bought a pair of brand new, never worn Ferragamo boots for $9.99. How to get the best deal on eBay? First, set up an alert on what you love—J Brand Jeans, Kate Spade shoes, cameo rings—whatever it is that you want and you’ll get a daily email with those exact items on auction in eBay. Secondly, give yourself a price limit when you bid. A bargain isn’t a bargain when you’ve spent over your limit.
