Drumroll please! The one accessory you don’t want to be caught dead without this spring is… nail polish! This season, dare to wear your manicure with a tip from Faina Ritz, founder of Duri Cosmetics who says, “Try mixing it up and going for unexpected color combos. You don’t need to match fingers to toes anymore! And there is no matching to the color of your outfit!” After all, Beyonce rocked bright blue nails (in honor of her baby, Blue Ivy) with a red dress.

Can it be that we’re FINALLY free of the matching mani ‘n pedi combo? (I had my fingers crossed it would happen one day!) We’ve got the skinny on the hottest new shades this season plus a bonus ‘mani-care’ section for keeping those colors from fading fast. From nails with a crackle polish twist to soft pastels, these nail trends are your spring awakening from the long winter!

Creamy Neutrals

A classic never goes out of style. Polish your digits this season with Nails Inc.’s Porchester Square in a gentle dove gray ($9.50, sephora.com).

zoya nail polish in kendal

For a light lavender tone, Zoya’s Nail Polish in Kendal ($8, zoya.com) brings an easy sophistication to your mani.

 duri nail polish

Raise your hand if you love a pretty pale pink! Duri Cosmetics Iced Roses ($5, duri.com) is a refreshing and creamy shade of pink so beloved that Duri founder Faina Ritz is crowning it as one of the “new nudes!”

 julep heather nail polish

Show off your sense of style with Julep’s Nail Color in Heather ($14, julep.com).  And no, I didn’t inspire the name of this polish but in its shimmering chic shade, I kinda think it was made in spirit for me!

Nail expert and creative director of PrettyWomanUSA, Aija Vilemsonne says that it’s the shimmery nails that alert people to your inner fashionista. “Metallic is a trend that has been seen largely on the runways of high-fashion houses.” Aija says and advises that those who take the metallic plunge play up their makeup too with fun colors and textures.

Big, bold blues, green and how to keep your hands sexy are up next!

I have used the Essie polish several times. I like it as much, if not better, than OPI. It’s long wearing, stays shiny, and there are many colors to choose from. And I love that I can get it at Walgreens or Walmart, both of which are located in my small town. :-)
