Shani Davis, Speed Skater (USA)

Speed skater Shani Davis is as famous for his headstrong personality (he funds and trains himself, and even had a public fallout with TV host Stephen Colbert) as his success on the ice. At 27, Davis has already cemented his place in history as the first African-American to win a Winter Olympics gold medal in an individual event. Despite his headstrong reputation, this 6’1” free spirit is still a mother’s boy at heart and credits his mom with sparking his love of skating at a public roller rink in Chicago’s South Side when he was a toddler. “My mom never thought of herself first, and I credit most of my success to her. She continues to manage my career and is always there for me,” says Shani. Ahhh, now that’s a guy that could melt even the iciest heart!

Alex Ovechkin, Hockey (Russia)

As one of the top players in the NHL, Alex Ovechkin is already idolized by fans across America, and the Washington Capitals team captain is sure to attract a fresh female following when he competes alongside the Russian national hockey team next week. Alex was first introduced to hockey by his older brother, Sergio, who was tragically killed in a car crash when Alex was just 10 years old. Now, 14 year later, Alex believes that the spirit of his brother fuels his passion every time he plays, and the 6’2” hero is hoping to lead hi team to a Russia-Canada final. “That's the game everyone wants to see,” he says.
