Style for a Cause: Charlize Theron + TOMS Team Up on Sunny, Limited Edition Shoe
Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach Project + TOMS have teamed up on a sunny, limited edition pair of shoes to benefit HIV prevention programs in Africa.
Sunny shoes that brighten up your life—AND help a fantastic cause at the same time? Yes please!
Charlize Theron and TOMS have teamed up for their third shoe collaboration to benefit Charlize’s Africa Outreach Project, or CTAOP. CTAOP was created in 2007 by the actress and UN Messenger of Peace in an effort to support African youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The organization’s area of focus has primarily been Charlize’s home country, South Africa, but CTAOP’s geographic scope is all of Sub-Saharan Africa. TOMS, meanwhile, was founded in 2006 and operates on the “One for One” principle, delivering a pair of free, new shoes to a child in need for every pair sold in retail. It’s only natural that they would join forces, no?
The new bright orange, limited edition pair of CTAOP Toms Classics ($58, toms.com) features an embroidered CTAOP logo on the top (is that sunburst image neat-o or what?) and the words, “Look Within. Think Beyond. Reach Out.” inside. The shoe will both fulfill the One for One promise and help support vital HIV prevention programs on the ground in Africa. Says Charlize, “This collaboration is a true representation of the passion all of us share for the safety and wellbeing of youth in Africa and the impact we can make together.”
