Hot or Not: Cousin Matthew, Is That Really You? Dan Stevens Goes Brown + Scruffy
Former ‘Downton Abbey’ star Dan Stevens was spotted in New York this weekend sporting a brunette, scruffy look very different from his usual blond, clean-shaven one. Hot or not? Weigh in here!
Oh, Cousin Matthew. First you had to go and die on us … and now this? It’s like we don’t even know you anymore!
Okay, so maybe I’m overreacting a little—but let’s just say that Dan Steven’s new look took us a tiny bit by surprise. The former Downton Abbey star was spotted at the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards in New York this past Saturday sport brown hair and a good deal of scruff. Quite a departure from the blond, clean-cut way we’re used to seeing him. For comparison purposes:
My goodness! It’s like night and day!
Why the change? We’re betting it’s for one of his next roles. According to IMDB, he’s currently shooting A Walk Among the Tombstones with Liam Neeson. Based upon the novel of the same name, A Walk Among the Tombstones tells the tale of a former NYPD cop and PI who is hired to find the kidnapped wife of a drug dealer. Liam is playing the cop, Matthew Scudder (natch), though we don’t yet know what role Dan has taken on. The scruff makes us think that maybe he’s getting his hands dirty in New York’s seedy underworld in some way, shape, or form, but that’s all just speculation. I’m not totally sure how I feel about his new look, but somehow I just can’t get it out of my head that he’s starting to look a little like Joel Kinnaman in The Killing. Anyone else? Yes? No? Just me?
Dan’s been a busy boy since he shuffled off his mortal Downton coil; in addition to A Walk Among the Tombstones, he’s also shot The Fifth Estate, a drama about the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange, as well as costarring alongside Jessica Chastain on Broadway in The Heiress.
Tell us: Who would win in a fight: Blond, clean-shaven Dan Stevens, or brown-haired, scruffy Dan Stevens?
