What Are They Wearing to the Oscars? Jennifer Lawrence + More Drop Hints
Wondering what Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, and all the rest of your favorite stars are going to wear to the Oscars this year? Hints here!
With the Oscars a scant two and a half weeks away, we’re almost as anxious to find out who will win big as we are to find out who will be wearing what on the red carpet. The most fun part of the night is always seeing whether our predictions were correct! This year, we won’t have to go in blind about Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams, and Jessica Chastain; People caught up with these four dynamo actresses at the Oscar nominees luncheon this week and convinced them to drop a few hints about their dress choices for the big night. Curious? Read on for more!
Jennifer Lawrence: This year, Jennifer will be wearing sweatpants. Just kidding! Although she did joke about rocking her favorite pair of sweats during the awards, she’s actually going in the opposite direction. “Last time was about comfort,” she said, recalling her red Calvin Klein number from 2011. “This year, I’m like, ‘Suck it up, wear a corset.’ I’m going to go for fashion this time.” Given that she’s currently the face of Miss Dior—and that she’s been rocking Dior nonstop on the red carpet this season—we’re betting she’ll be wearing another one of the design house’s fabulous creations.
Anne Hathaway: Anne is being particularly cagey about her wardrobe choice, noting only that she’s been looking at some “cool options.” What do you think, Bettys? Will she go for the Greek goddess look she rocked at the London Les Mis premiere? The dominatrix look she went for at the New York one? The party frock style she wore to the SAG Awards?
Amy Adams: Like Anne, Amy is keeping her choice locked down tight. All she said was that it will be “a dress! No girl ever tells you. Has any girl ever gotten up here and said, ‘I’m wearing this designer and it will be this color?’” Ah, the element of surprise!
Jessica Chastain: The Zero Dark Thirty star remarked, “Most little girls dream about their wedding dresses, but I always dreamed about my Oscar dress…. I love fashion that celebrates a woman’s body [and] maybe is a throwback to the glamour of Old Hollywood, that silhouette, but somehow making it modern.” She wore black embellished with gold last year—but this year, she says, “I’m going to go for something that’s perhaps colorful.” We can’t wait to see what it is!
