Even if you ditched your ‘80s duds years ago, you’ll be hard-pressed not to be charmed by teen drama series The Carrie Diaries. Fans know Katie Findlay as the fast-talking, sarcastic Maggie Landers. And with the show’s successful first season underway, it’s only a matter of time before the 22-year-old actress books all the coveted Hollywood roles she could handle! We chatted with the sharp-witted Findlay about all things Maggie-related, relationships gone wrong, and her villainous dream role.
Betty Confidential: Where were you when you found out you were chosen to star in The Carrie Diaries and how did you find out?
Katie Findlay: I was staying with a friend in L.A. and my agent sent me a round of one-word text messages, but they all came in out of order. I was in the apartment alone and had to figure it out by piecing together the messages.

BC: Were you a Sex and the City fan before working on the show?
KF: I had never actually seen an episode. Shortly before I auditioned for the role, I started watching the first season, so a lot of Sex and the City entered my life at once.
BC: For readers who are unfamiliar with your character, what are three words you’d use to describe Maggie?
KF: Lovable. Hot. Mess.
BC: How does your character now compare to previous roles you’ve taken on?
KF: I’ve never done this type of character, which is fine. In the past, I’ve tended to play sarcastic, gothic daughters. Maggie is sarcastic and a bit ditsy; she dresses like a Barbie doll and talks really fast, so it’s a lot of fun.
