There is a misogynist strain of thought out there that implies women can’t be as funny as men. We feel that this list of the 10 funniest women on TV will pretty handily refute that ridiculous notion. Loud, opinionated, unafraid to air her own dirty laundry, this comedian and host of Chelsea Lately makes being funny look incredibly easy.

8. Kristen Chenoweth

The tiny spitfire who won an Emmy this year for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy (for the late and lamented Pushing Daisies), she also just about owned an entire episode of Glee, which is only our favorite new show (and that’s no easy feat, by the way).

7. Susie Essman

Nobody does angry and profane like Susie. One tantrum in every episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm makes us very, very happy.
