Shop Til You Drop ... Or Not
Economy crisis affects future store closings
-Stephanie Elliot
With the holidays booming straight toward us and the economy in the big-time dumpster, you may be dreading shopping, as I am. But last weekend, out with some friends, I was shocked to see the malls jam-packed with delighted shoppers, their arms filled with packages and lines out the door at stores such as LEGO and The Gap.
At one point, I asked a sales associate at The Gap, "Is there something special going on here? A big sale or something?"
"Nope. This is normal."
Normal? I thought we were in an economic crisis! Don't these people know they HAVE NO MONEY TO SPEND!?
Apparently not.
However, an e-mail turned up today that sparked my interest indicating that a ton of stores were closing, and I wasn't sure if it was legit or not, so I went over to snopes.com for the scoop.
Check it out to see if your beloved is on the list and if so, make sure to either stock up on your faves, or make sure not to make gift purchases there that you think might need to be returned!
A few top businesses that will soon be closing at least a dozen of their stores nationwide include:
Pier 1
Pep Boys
Zales
Friedman Jewelers
Catherines
‘Tis the season ... ‘tis the season ...
And I am personally dreadin' it.
