Since I found out we're having a girl, who's due in January, I've been floating around in a poufy cloud of pink heaven. I've always had lots of fun dressing my son, but, oh, there's just nothing like little-girl clothes.
While I've been doing a lot of shopping, I haven't been doing a lot of buying, because, well, I'm about as picky as they come. I want each piece - even if it's just a onesie - to be the perfect onesie. I want them all to be soft and well made, comfortable and cute but not too cutesy. Like I said, a lot of looking, not so much buying.
But I finally found the perfect onesies, and so much more.
I'm absolutely, unequivocally in love with a relatively new line of baby clothes (new since my son was this size, anyway, which is unfortunate for me because the boy stuff is adorable too!). It's called ambajam, which is named after founder Alessandra Mayer's niece Emma (nicknamed "Ambajam"), and it was launched in 2006. Their supersoft, 100 percent cotton gear for infants and toddlers is adorned with animal appliques in a great variety of prints and colors.
There are burp cloths that match the onesies and the softest little baby blankets you've ever seen. I got a little pink one with a green turtle on it! I've already decided it will be her favorite - you know, the one she'll insist on carrying everywhere.
Now I just can't wait until January so I can see her in it!
Whether for your own little one or to elicit a big wow at the next baby shower you attend, check this line out. Price range from $12 for burp cloths up to $220 for heirloom rag quilts, with a wide range in between. Pieces are carried in select stores around the country and can also be ordered online at www.ambajam.com.
