Dear ASK REAL GUYS: I recently had a baby with my boyfriend of a year and a half and I gained 63 lbs. He tells me that I am still pretty, but I have a hard time believing him because I look a lot different. He no longer initiates sex, and it has been a long time since we have made love. My question is: Do you think it's possible that I gross him out? I am trying my best to lose the weight - I shed about two or three pounds per week - but I am still disgusted with myself. I make an effort to look good for my boyfriend, and the extra weight is really bothering me.
Avery: It sounds like it's only a matter of time until you and your boyfriend will be back to how things were before you had the baby. Men don't really understand very well, the changes that a woman goes through when she has a baby (emotions, weight, etc.), and your trying and succeeding to lose the weight you gained shows how much you care about your appearance (to yourself and your boyfriend). So my advice is to keep doing what you're doing and don't make this an issue between you. It's likely just a matter of time until this is completely resolved.
