Dear ASK REAL GUYS: I recently tried online dating. But, in this forum, how can I distinguish between a liar and someone who's being honest? I'm attractive and have a nice personality. But it seems that when I reply honestly to guys on the site with what I'm looking for (a real relationship) and what I'm like, how I feel about things, etc., I get no reply! Are they just out for one thing on these sites?
Avery: Online dating is just an extension of dating in the real world. The benefit is that with online dating, you can learn a lot about the person before spending or wasting a lot of time on someone with whom you'll go nowhere. However it's just as easy - or easier - for someone to lie online as in person, so be cautious. Being upfront about what you want and telling someone about the kind of person you are from the get-go is a good, solid plan. Don't be discouraged. Keep communicating and when someone SEEMS like a person you'd meet in real life, then take that next step. Just remember to always be cautious and keep your radar on!
